From what you said, perhaps seeking legal advice from a lawyer is in order. Good luck and best wishes to you- ChipSealChipSealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07095195723481694050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872160824662825730.post-86484316444734211102009-07-10T14:04:36.578-05:002009-07-10T14:04:36.578-05:00That he had the audacity to pull out his badge to ...That he had the audacity to pull out his badge to point out possibly that he is "the law", is seriously muddle-headed!GreenComotionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11272116464292908327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872160824662825730.post-58562549710663123742009-07-09T19:13:29.782-05:002009-07-09T19:13:29.782-05:00While I agree with Rantwick about the spitting, ot...While I agree with Rantwick about the spitting, otherwise, I will attempt to imprint the post into my memory. Harassment under the color of authority is FAR more pernicious than harassment by private citizens.

That cop ramped up his offense level a LOT in my book when he pulled out his badge. I suspect ChipSeal agrees.

We're supposed to be a nation of law. Police that act otherwise, support the stereotype of the small-town Southern Sheriff leading the lynch mob, safe under his white hood.

Thanks for sharing.Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872160824662825730.post-36961954399528453492009-07-09T10:17:38.147-05:002009-07-09T10:17:38.147-05:00Insane? I prefer to think of myself as idiosyncratic! ;)

When I know I am firmly in the right, it gives me courage to stand up to ignorant bullies. The entire incident was curiously unemotional for me. I don't think my heart rate even changed.

Spitting is an expression of disdain, thus protected speech. (Spitting on a pick-up truck- it is sort of like burning a flag, don't you think?)

In retrospect, I think I should have questioned him about really being a cop. Maybe laughing at him too. I mean really, so you are an off-duty cop. If you are going to flash your badge, act professionally, at least.ChipSealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07095195723481694050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872160824662825730.post-85485419142930720082009-07-09T09:36:05.765-05:002009-07-09T09:36:05.765-05:00Chipseal, you are insane, in a good way. I'm still not sure directed spitting of any kind is in your best interest, though.

"If I broke the law, give me ticket."

"Either write me a ticket or shut up!"

You are either fearless or crazy. Either way, I like it. Thanks for the post.RANTWICKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15394479078513545568noreply@blogger.com
